A Desperate Hour.

Why come to The DC Awakening?

We are living in a desperate hour in American history and are in urgent need of a national spiritual awakening. Consider some of these facts:

* Over 50,000,00 (million) innocent children have died through the violence of abortion and millions have been scarred and wounded by the procedure.
* America has a tragically high rate of drug usage and suicide.
* Thousands are murdered on our streets every year.
* One in four teenage girls has a Sexually Transmitted Disease. (STD’s)
* Great social injustice abounds in America with human trafficking, racism, poverty and broken families.
* Our prisons are over crowded beyond capacity.
* Materialism and out of control consumerism is exploiting our natural resources, hurting the planet and corrupting our families.
* Men and women are exploited through pornography and a culture built on sensuality.
* Our public and political institutions are more concerned with acquiring and achieving power then serving the interests and needs of the people.
* Christians and church leaders have become comfortable, apathetic, indifferent and desire the applause and acceptance of men more than the approval of God.

Throughout history when the people of God faced difficult times, they came together corporately in repentance to passionately seek God and cry out for mercy.

Joel 2:15-16 says, “Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.”

Following the admonition of Joel, The DC Awakening is calling Christians to our nation’s capital, not just for a day, but for a week to seek God for mighty spiritual awakening. We are not gathering in a church or a convention center but we are publicly gathering on the lawn of the United States Capitol, building before the watching eyes of the entire world.

This is the first time in the history of our nation that Christians have gathered on the lawn of the Capitol for a full week of prayer, worship, teaching and repentance.

Like Elijah in 1 Kings 18, we are trusting that fire will fall from heaven and people will turn to God.
